Well, after months of planning, a fast and furious past few days packing and saying goodbye to loved ones back home, and then 10+ hours in the air, we're now all safely installed in our new home, Haifa! Indeed, everyone couldn't have been in better spirits when we met up at the airport earlier today. The reality of the program finally coming to fruition has definitely been exciting for us all.
After people quickly changed money, we hopped in a van for the hour and a half ride up to Haifa from Tel Aviv. Since today (and tomorrow) are the holiday, Shavuot, access to stores and shops is extremely limited. Thankfully, our highly capable on-the-ground program coordinator, Shelby, thought ahead and stocked our kitchen with snacks, so everyone was able to grab a quick bite (hummus, pitas, and veggies) before finally heading to bed.
Tomorrow we'll be acclimating to Israel and then getting ready to dive into our technology projects starting on Thursday. So far, so good!
